The newest product family in our range is GABIONS, which offers several solutions for small and larger projects. No project is too small or too large! Download installation instructions Description The product is delivered in parts with spiral wire, no tools are needed for assembly. The basket is to be assembled "in series" with a standard gabion. This creates a cost-effective structure and a neater appearance, as double spiral wires are avoided. Welded 5.0 mm Aluzink mesh, mesh size 76 x 76 mm. Suitable filling material is 100-200 mm natural stone or crushed stone, not included in delivery. Dimensions Standard dimensions are generally used. If the customer wishes, we cut to the desired size instead of the standard dimension. Height The standard height of a single basket is 0.5 m or 1.0 m. If the height of the structure exceeds one metre, baskets are stacked on top of each other until the desired height is reached. However, the wire diameter of the baskets must be 5.0 mm. A 3.0 mm wire diameter is recommended for structures up to 0.5 m high. A 3.0 mm wire thickness can be used for a 1.0 m high wall, but the walls may be slightly uneven. Depth The depth of the wall depends on the height of the wall and any lateral load. Lateral load can arise, for example, from earth mass at height differences. A sufficient depth for a wall of one metre height is 0.5 m; the wall can also be loaded laterally. For a two-metre-high wall subject to lateral load, the lowest basket must be at least 1.0 m deep. For structures over 2 metres high, geotechnical design is required, which determines the height, depth and any inclination of the baskets. Length As a rule, the length of the baskets is 1 or 2 metres. Pre-assembled baskets are available up to 6 m long. If the total length of the wall does not fit into full metres, the end can be continued with, for example, 0.5 m. In order for the gabions to stay straight, the supplied stiffener wires must be installed through the basket when the height exceeds 300 mm. Check the number of stiffener wires from the supplied installation instructions. The most representative result is achieved by using only one partition and one spiral wire at each joint. If this is not possible, one locking wire should be used to connect two separate baskets. Spiral wire Smaller quantities can be assembled more easily with 3.0 mm spiral wire. No special tools are needed for installation in this case. Pliers can be used to lock the spiral wire and thus prevent it from unwinding. From a transport cost perspective, a more economical option is to deliver the baskets in parts and have the customer assemble them with spiral wires. Clips For larger projects, the most convenient option is to join the baskets with CL50 clips. A special clip pliers is required for this. The advantage of using clips is that they do not stand out as clearly as spiral wires. On the other hand, installation time is considerably shorter and clips are cheaper than spiral wires.
